Value to the Nation Banner

IWR POC

From sea to shining sea, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers works daily to: keep channels open for navigation; generate clean, reliable hydropower; provide water to communities, manage recreation areas; respond to disasters; protect against floods; and safeguard the environment. Our challenge is to manage the nation's water resources to ensure that they continue to provide these, and many other benefits, and to protect and preserve these resources for future generations. Value to the Nation is a series of publications and web pages that communicate the many ways in which the Army Corps contributes to economic growth, environmental health, and social well-being. Each of our main focus areas - navigation, flood control, recreation, hydropower, water supply, environment, regulatory, and emergency response are addressed. Brochures and web pages are being written and updated. Currently, the recreation component is the most mature. From the recreation page, you can access extensive benefit/cost data by lake, state, congressional district, etc. You are encouraged to explore and share this information with others.
