North American Bird Conservation Initiative Program
Headquarters POC
Birds. Their capacity for flight has always captured our imagination and been the envy of earth-bound humans. The vision of protecting and restoring the populations and habitats of North America's birds demands and deserves special emphasis among conservation efforts. Tremendous potential exists to improve bird conservation, including all aspects of protection, restoration, and enhancement in the United States and abroad. This program seeks to deliver the full spectrum of bird conservation through regionally based, biologically driven, landscape-oriented partnerships. The NABCI-US is attempting to utilize the joint venture framework developed by the North American Waterfowl Management Plan to integrate and coordinate the efforts of existing bird conservation initiatives such as Partners in Flight (song birds), the U.S. Shorebird Conservation Plan, the North American Colonial Waterbird Conservation Plan, and the North American Waterfowl Management Plan.
