    October 2005 - National Society for Park Resources Recognizes Scott Jackson
     Group Photo of William Penn Mott Award Recipients R. Scott Jackson received the prestigious William Penn Mott Jr. Award for Excellence from the National Society for Park Resources in San Antonio, Texas, Oct 21. The Mott award is given for professional achievement in the field of parks and recreation and citizen action contributing to the advancement of the profession or park and recreation programs. Scott received the Mott award during a National Resource Parks Association (NRPA) congress for his outstanding service to the Corps and for transforming the way the Corps does business with the National Resource Management (NRM) Community of Practice -- a Corps program designed to manage and conserve natural resources consistent with ecosystem management principles, while providing quality public outdoor recreation experiences for present and future generations. He has served the Corps for more than 25 years as a research biologist with the Environmental Laboratory and is a manager of the Recreation Management Support Program as well as a member of the Recreation Leadership Advisory Team and Environmental Stewardship Advisory Team.

    October 2004 - National Society for Park Resources Recognizes Dwight Beall
     Group Photo of William Penn Mott Award Recipients Raystown Lake Operations Project Manager Dwight Beall received the William Penn Mott, Jr. Award for Excellence at the October 15, 2004 awards ceremony and general membership meeting of the National Society for Park Resources (NSPR) in Reno, Nevada. The NSPR presents this award annually to recognize outstanding achievements in the field of parks and recreation. Mr. Beall is known as a national leader in the Corps of Engineers Natural Resources Management (NRM) community of practice. His distinguished career has spanned 30 years, serving in various positions in the Louisville and Baltimore Districts. Mr. Beall has served as Operations Project Manager, Raystown Lake, Baltimore District, since 1987. In 1998, under his innovative leadership, that lake was the Corps' national Project of the Year award winner. The NSPR's William Penn Mott award recognizes Mr. Beall's management expertise and his accomplishments in building community support and partnerships at Raystown Lake that have resulted in improved facilities and excellent stewardship of the project's natural resources. Mr. Beall is also recognized for his contribution to NRM employee development through his service on the NRM Career Development Steering Committee, where he has served as a member since 1989 and as Committee Chair for the past eight years.

    October 2003 - National Society for Park Resources Recognizes Don Dunwoody and George Hardison
     Group Photo of William Penn Mott Award Recipients Don and George were selected to received the prestigious William Penn Mott. Jr. Award for Excellence this year. This honor is awarded each year by the National Society of Park Resources (NSPR), a branch of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), to recognize outstanding accomplishments in the field of recreation and parks, and service to NSPR.

    August 2003 - Erwin Topper
     Photo of Topper with Govenor of Georgia Lake Lanier Marina operators chose to recognize Erwin Topper's twenty years of outstanding management of Lake Lanier by lending their support to two functions. The first occurred on August 6 when Topper was presented with a Commendation from the Governor.

    The second event took place on Wednesday August 13 at the project office when the same marina group sponsored a similar celebration that included several members of their organization, lake club site members and lakeside press, the Lake Lanier Association, Mr. Carl Rogers, a Member of the Georgia House of Representatives from Gainesville, GA and project staff. In recognition of exemplary performance, Topper received a plague from the Marina Operators, letters of appreciation from Senator Zell Miller, Congressmen Nathan Deal and Charlie Norwood, copies of recent Topper press releases as prepared by Lakeside On Lanier, and Georgia House Resolution #386 praising Erwin's dedication and work as crafted by local Georgia House of Representatives Rogers, Mills and Amerson. Approximately 50 persons attended the function.
